Worksport Shows The Potential Of The EV Era By Promising Freedom From The Grid

Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) undoubtedly reinvented carmaking. This week, Tesla also became the biggest beneficiary of the EU’s latest funding scheme. Tesla received nearly $15 million in funding for the expansion of its supercharger network. Before this year ends, Tesla should finally deliver its electric pickup to the world. But as it enters this new arena, Tesla will be facing increased competition and new game rules with even Toyota Motor (NYSE: TM) having confirmed it will build an electric pickup. But, there are also innovative players like Worksport Ltd (NASDAQ: WKSP)(NASDAQ: WKSPW) who just announced today it made significant progress in the development of its groundbreaking portable battery system COR that is designed to complement its solar-powered SOLIS tonneau cover. Together, this clean-power-on-the-go duo promise to extend the driving range of upcoming electric pickups and consequently, power remote locations, positioning Worksport among the leaders of the future of transportation.

Worksport’s Revolutionary Truck Bed Solutions For The New Era Of Transportation

In its claimed pursuit of excellence, Worksport decided to enhance the COR portable battery system with redundant overheating protection. With two independent microprocessors, the smart battery system meticulously monitors the temperature and is able to connect seamlessly to a user-friendly mobile app via Bluetooth, allowing users to condition their battery in response to various weather conditions, from Arizona’s heat of Arizona to Alaska’s freezing cold. Worksport took an extra step in customizing its product as it is rigorously testing a variety of battery technologies to provide users with insights about the most suitable battery, considering their application needs as well as specific regional environment. To ensure temperature stability, Worksport is also developing a cooling system to dissipate heat from the battery pack. This is why Worksport speaks more of an experience as opposed to a product for its users and automakers have already taken note. In April 2022, AutoBlog reported that Worksport will be providing Hyundai with customized versions of both SOLIS and COR for the Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup and upon today’s news, CEO Steven Rossi also noted that potential partnerships with other manufacturers are in the making.

The Electric Pickup Could Mark A Turnaround For The Japanese Giant

Toyota was severely criticized for its slow EV transition but it has recently done something about it by unveiling several new EV concepts and ambitious battery tech breakthroughs. Toyota plans to launch at least 15 EVs by 2025. Also, Toyota has recently confirmed it is developing an electric pickup truck, previewed as “Pickup EV concept”. This is a big deal as current Toyota EVs are lagging in range compared to its competitors but an electric pickup needs to be powered by the next-generation battery that Toyota has also promised. Therefore, the confirmation of the upcoming electric pickup also implies the game-changing next-generation battery.

Even before this year began, it was already marked as the year of the electric pickup. It will be the year when the Tesla Cybertruck will finally hit the road after being pompously announced four years ago. But many new models and developments are still in the works, such as the solar-powered tonneau cover and portable battery system by Worksport. By offering portable clean power solutions, Worksport is making a promise that goes even beyond the one of electric pickups and the entire automotive industry- one of experiencing freedom from the grid.
