A Quick View Of U.S. Employment Report

The United States was successful in creating 160,000 jobs in June, CNBC reported, but fell beneath estimates of 165,000.

The unemployment rate remained basically unchanged, finding balance with jobs growth by only increasing by 17,000.

Breaking Down the Numbers:

  • Average hourly wages increased by $0.10, or 0.4 percent
  • The average work week remained at 34.5 hours
  • Non-farm payroll increased to 195,000
  • Private sector payrolls are at 202,000
  • Unemployment stayed at a rate of 7.6 percent, over analyst estimates of 7.5 percent
  • 75,000 new jobs are in hospitality
  • 53,000 new jobs are in professional services
  • 37,000 new jobs are in retail
