Goldman Sachs (GS) Earnings Report: A CNBC Analysis

Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) reported $4.79 billion profit for Q4FY09 in comparison to $2.1 billion loss a year ago.

Talking with CNBC, Vince Farrell of Soleil Securities pointed out that this figure needs to be adjusted for normal compensation levels. Goldman Sachs reported Q4EPS at $8.20 in contrast to the market estimate of $5.20. The revenue figure for Q4 has been reported at $9.62 billion.

The market had pegged its revenue expectation at $9.654 billion. The bank has reported strength in fixed income, currency trading and commodity segments. According to the statement released by the banking giant, its investment banking segment recorded 58% increase in net revenue whereas Asset Management segment’s earnings improved by 19%.
