Tweet Nike @YumGo, Get a Discount

It has been a huge summer for social media. Between the insane popularity of Google+ (NASDAQ: GOOG), the introduction of Turntable.fm, and the brilliance of Visually and its ability to cleverly and visually rate and compare our social media status, social media is on fire. That doesn't even include the initial public offering for LinkedIn (NASDAQ: LNKD), the news surrounding Facebook, or Zynga's forthcoming IPO.

Now @YumGo – that is, atyumgo.co.uk – is attempting to bring another dimension to everyday discounts.

Promoted as a Tweet-2-Discount application that you don't have to download, @YumGo offers a variety of promotional codes from many well-known brands, including Pizza Hut (NYSE: YUM), Nike (NYSE: NKE), and Reebok.

“Shoppers can gain access to these codes within 60 seconds simply by tweeting the relevant brand name to the @YumGo Twitter account,” the company wrote in a press release. “@YumGo also brings local codes first to shoppers who enable their location using Twitter's location based service.”

@YumGo insists that there is no reason to worry about spam since users are not required to follow the company, nor are there any fees or apps to download.

“Instead, all you get from us is an instant discount, 24/7, if you tweet a brand name to us,” an @YumGo spokesperson said.

@YumGo was built using Twitter's open-source technology. The company is not a partner of the social networking giant.
