US Stock Futures Down Ahead Of Jobs Data

US stock futures are lower this morning, as investors are awaiting jobs data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 69 points to 11,396.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 9 points to 1,192.30. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 15.75 points to 2,201.50.

US stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipping 1.03% to 11,493.57, the S&P 500 index declining 1.19% to 1,204.42 and the Nasdaq 100 index dropping 1.30% to 2,546.04.

US jobs data will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Wall Street expects Campbell Soup Company (NYSE: CPB) to report its FQ4 EPS at $0.38 on revenue of $1.57 billion.

Quiksilver Inc (NYSE: ZQK) reported around 26% rise in its Q3 net income. The company's quarterly earnings came in at $10.4 million, or $0.06 per share, versus $8.3 million, or $0.06 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Its revenue climbed 14% to $503.3 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.08 per share on revenue of $472.2 million.

H&R Block Inc (NYSE: HRB) posted a Q1 loss of $175 million, or $0.57 per share. However, analysts were expecting a loss of $0.40 per share.

Finisar Corporation (NASDAQ: FNSR) reported upbeat FQ1 earnings from operations of $0.21 per share, up from analysts' estimates of $0.18 per share.

The New York Times reported that the Federal Housing Finance Agency may file suits seeking billions of dollars in damages against big banks including Bank of America Corp (NYSE: BAC), JP Morgan Chase & Co (NYSE: JPM), Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE: GS) and Deutsche Bank AG (NYSE: DB).

European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 1.69%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 1.76%, French CAC 40 index fell 2.16% and German DAX 30 index dropped 2.53%.

Asian markets ended mostly lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 1.1876%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 1.40% and China's Shanghai Composite dropping 1.09%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 1.8092% and India's Sensex gained 0.90%.

The dollar index (DXY) gained 0.08% to trade at 74.60, up from 74.500 in late North American trading on Thursday. The euro fell 0.17% against the dollar to trade at $1.4237, versus $1.4270 on Thursday.

Gold futures gained, with the December contract surging $27.30 to $1,856.40 an ounce in electronic trading on Globex. Crude oil for October delivery fell $0.69 to $88.24 a barrel.
