Each month, App Annie details the top-performing games and apps downloaded from Apple Inc.'s (NASDAQ: AAPL) App Store and Google Inc's (NASDAQ: GOOG) Google Play.
October's results are in.
Top Downloads By Company
France-based and privately held Gameloft regained the top spot in total downloads on iOS and Google Play devices combined. Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) moved up one spot with the second-most downloaded games, while King Digital Entertainment PLC (NASDAQ: KING) dropped down to third place. Glu Mobile Inc. (NASDAQ: GLUU) held on to the No. 6 spot, while Zynga Inc (NASDAQ: ZNGA) jumped seven spots to No. 9.
Revenue Ranking By Company
Privately held Supercell held on to the No. 1 spot in top company by revenue. King Digital also held on to the No. 2 spot. Electronic Arts moved up two spots to No. 8, while neither Zynga nor Glu Mobile were ranked in the top 10.
Top Downloaded Game
The most downloaded game was "Angry Birds Transformers" published by privately held Rovia. Electronic Art's "FIFA 15 Ultimate Team" moved up five spots to the second-most downloaded game, while King's "Candy Crush Saga" dropped three spots to No. 5. Zynga's refresh of "New Words With Friends" was the sixth-most downloaded game.
