Early Apple Watch Pre-Order Estimates Are In
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) began accepting pre-orders for its much anticipated Watch on Friday. Investors, traders and Apple enthusiasts didn't have to wait long for sales data to be analyzed.
Slice Intelligence on Sunday estimated that 957,000 people in the U.S. pre-ordered an Apple Watch on Friday. Furthermore, each buyer ordered an average of 1.3 watches at an average cost of $503.83 each, with the average Apple Watch Sport model costing $382.83 while the higher-end Apple Watch costing on average $707.04.
Sixty-two percent of consumers purchased the less-costly Sport model but added on a pricier case. In addition, 71 percent of orders (regardless of the edition) were for a larger 42 mm case.
Finally, 72 percent of consumers who bought a watch is a repeat Apple customer, having purchased at least one Apple product in the past two years; 21 percent of new watch buyers had pre-ordered an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus just a few months ago.
