Fiat Chrysler's CEO Revamp Makes It A 'Merger Target,' Report Says
According to a report by USA Today, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (NYSE: FCAU) CEO Sergio Marchionne's re-imaging of the company could not only be the "highlight of his career," but could lead to his company being sold.
USA Today noted that Marchionne's actions to date include weeding out unprofitable brands and car lines and will stop building unpopular compact and midsize cars.
However, Marchionne's actions could lead to the company to be acquired given its revamped roadmap. The report further suggested that a buyer would find it further advantageous given Chrysler's already existing production facilities and other relevant assets across North America.
Shares of Fiat Chrysler were trading lower by more than 1 percent shortly after Tuesday's opening bell.
