How Facebookers Can Take Back Some Control Of Their Newsfeeds

If Facebook Inc (NASDAQ: FB) wants its News Feed to stay relevant to its users, then it has to start giving users more control over what they see.

And this is exactly what the company is doing, as pages and friends are sorted by Facebook through complex algorithms. The more a user interacts with a page or profile, the more they will see activity, even if they haven't manually chosen to do so.

Now Facebook users have greater flexibility to choose different settings.

However, despite the algorithms, some users find themselves increasingly frustrated. There is, however, a series of solutions at the disposal of users. Business Insider has a handy tool for Facebook users to change what they see and from whom.

The News Feed preferences can be found in the far right "more" tab on the mobile app. Just click on "settings" and then "News Feed preferences." Desktop users will access the News Feed parameters by clicking on the News Feed shortcut on the left toolbar.

By clicking on "prioritize who to see first," the News Feed will show more posts from top users. You can also unfollow people, which will hide their posts.

Shares of Facebook were trading lower by around 1 percent at $113.16 mid-Tuesday afternoon. The stock has gained 8 percent since the start of 2016 and nearly 30 percent over the past year.
