'90s Nostalgia Continues As Nintendo Announces Launch Dates For Games And Consoles
Shares of Nintendo Co., Ltd (ADR) (OTC: NTDOY) gained more than 5 percent Thursday as the company's management team hosted an investor day presentation in which it outlined several new releases.
Pokémon, Mario Bros Craze
Even though the "Pokémon Go" craze of the summer has died off, Nintendo is hoping that lovers of the '90s game will buy its new game for the 3DS system. The game will be titled "Pokémon Sun/Moon" and will be globally launched in November.
Nintendo also announced it will follow up last year's hit for the Wii U, "Super Mario Maker" for the 3DS platform in December.
Nintendo Switch
Nintendo also revealed that its new-concept gaming system, code named "NX," will be released under its official name "Nintendo Switch."
The new platform is a home gaming system that can switch between different styles of play and will be released worldwide in March 2017.
Super Mario Run
"Super Mario Run," an action game featuring the classic Mario character will launch globally in December.
The game is optimized for smart devices. "Fire Emblem" and "Animal Crossing" will follow after.
The Main Event: NES Classic
Those who grew up in the '90s with their Nintendo NES system should be excited over the company's new gaming system called "Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition."
The gaming system will be launched in November and is a complete throwback to the classic system. The palm-sized gaming system will come pre-loaded with 30 of the most loved games.
