Goldman Sachs Employees Returning To Their Desks Beginning June 22

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE: GS) announced Wednesday that an initial group of employees would begin returning to the company’s offices in New York, Jersey City, Dallas, and Salt Lake City on June 22.

What Happened

In an email sent to employees worldwide and posted on its website, Goldman also announced that it was reopening its global offices incrementally.

Employees can return to the London office beginning June 15. The Bengaluru office is slated to open at the end of the month.

The move to open offices comes after CEO, David Solomon, informed Goldman employees last month about the investment bank’s strategy to reopen offices worldwide.

Why It Matters

According to Goldman Sachs, returning back to work is voluntary, and "everyone is encouraged to adopt an approach that works for them and their own personal circumstances."

Employees were encouraged to work from home by many wall street companies in March as New York-based firms saw a spread of COVID-19 among staff, reported Reuters.

Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) announced last month that some traders can return to its New York headquarters in either mid or late June. 

GS Price Action 

Goldman Sachs shares traded 1.39% lower at $210.55 in the after-hours session on Wednesday. The shares had closed the regular session 2.10% lower at $213.52.
