Elon Musk Says 'Hate Speech Impressions' Down On Twitter — But Not Everyone Is Buying It

Twitter Inc.'s new chief Elon Musk congratulated the team on bringing the "hate speech impressions" down — but is there more to it than meets the eye?

What Happened: Musk shared a screengrab on Twitter, saying that hate speech impressions were significantly lower from pre-spike levels.

Tech tweeter Jane Manchun Wong, however, tweeted that though there's a drop, "it's back at the end."

Another user refuted Musk's statement by sharing a research report.

Why It's Important: Musk's tweet came just days after Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ: META) released its latest Integrity and Transparency reports. Meta stated that hate speech content decreased considerably on Facebook and Instagram

Earlier this month, Oreo cookie maker Mondelez International said after Musk's takeover of Twitter, hate speech has increased on the platform.

In October, it was reported that the use of the N-word on the microblogging site increased by approximately 500 percent compared to the previous average.
