Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Triumphs in Folding Marathon, Outlasting Motorola Razr+

In an intense folding endurance test, the Samsung Electronics Co.’s (OTC:SSNLF) Galaxy Z Flip 5 asserts its dominance over the Motorola Solns’ (NYSE:MSI) Razr+, surpassing expectations and leaving its competitor in the dust.

What Happened: During the ongoing folding marathon organized by popular YouTuber Mrkeybrd and his team, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has showcased its remarkable durability, surpassing an impressive 267,000 manual folds.

On the other hand, the Motorola Razr+ struggled early on, displaying hinge trouble after just 43,000 folds and eventually giving up the fight at around 126,300 folds.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5’s performance in the hand-folding test has exceeded the official rating provided by Bureau Veritas, which certified the device for 200,000 folds. 

In contrast, Motorola hasn’t officially disclosed the foldability limits of Razr+, but the experiment’s results suggest it may have durability problems early in its lifespan.

Why It’s Important: For the unversed, The Motorola Razr+ boasts a slightly larger 3.6-inch cover display, while the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 features a 3.4-inch display. 

On the flip side, the Flip 5 takes the lead over the Razr+ thanks to its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, while the Razr+ relies on the slightly less efficient Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. 

Though the performance gains may not be huge, the newer Gen 2 chipset proves to be more efficient, which is significant considering both phones have relatively small batteries.

The Razr+ comes with a 3,800mAh battery, while the Flip 5 has a slightly smaller 3,700mAh battery. 

Notably, the Razr+ supports faster 30W wired charging compared to the Flip 5’s 25W rate. However, Motorola disappoints with its 5W wireless charging speed, which is substantially lower than the Flip 5’s impressive 15W speed.
