After Apple, Google Might Also Increase The Price Of Upcoming Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro

Following the latest industry trends, Alphabet Inc.’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google has reportedly considered a price increase for its upcoming Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones. 

What Happened: Google has contemplated a price adjustment for its Pixel 8 series. 

According to sources, the Pixel 8 is expected to come with a $699 price tag, while the Pixel 8 Pro could cost $999 in the U.S. market, reported 9To5Google.  

This marks a $100 increase compared to the previous Pixel 7 lineup.

Previously, it was reported that there is a possibility of a €150 price increase for the Google Pixel 8 and a potential €200 hike for the Google Pixel 8 Pro in European markets.

While details about the Pixel 8 series remain limited, earlier leaks have suggested that some camera upgrades are on the horizon, including improvements to the selfie and ultrawide sensors. 

The Tensor G3 chip is also rumored to bring significant hardware enhancements aimed at prolonging the lifespan of these devices. Additionally, the Pixel 8 is anticipated to see a 5% higher battery capacity than the Pixel 7.

One point of contention is the storage capacity, as the Pixel 8 series is rumored to continue offering a base model with 128GB of storage, while competitors like Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd (OTC:SSNLF) and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) have shifted to 256GB base models, the report noted.  

Both devices are scheduled to become available in retail stores on Oct. 12. Google has already announced the commencement of pre-orders on Oct. 4.

Why It’s Important: The potential price increase follows in the footsteps of Apple, which has increased the price of its iPhone 15 Pro Max this year, with a starting price of $1,199 (iPhone 14 Pro Max was priced at $1,099 for 128 GB) although it comes with 256 GB storage.
