Elon Musk Comes To The Rescue Of Man Whose Pooch Keeps Opening His Tesla's Window, Agrees To Enhance Pet Safety In 'Dog Mode

Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk, on Wednesday, agreed to add yet another safety feature for pets traveling in its cars.

What Happened: An X user and Tesla investor noted in a post that their dog keeps opening the windows of their car by stepping on armrest window controls. The investor hence requested Tesla to disable all windows in ‘dog mode.’

Musk replied in the affirmative to the request, hinting an update might cater to the request in the future. After all, the dog mode itself was a request from a Model 3 driver which Musk agreed to on X, then Twitter.

What Is The Dog Mode: Dog Mode is a feature on Tesla to keep your pets safe in the car while you run errands or step away from the car for short time intervals. If you have a pet you have left in the cabin, Tesla's dog mode maintains a set temperature. Passerby will be notified that the pet is safe via a message on the center screen and the driver can keep an eye on their dog by viewing the cabin camera from the Tesla app.

To activate, select ‘Dog’ from the climate menu on the touchscreen before you step out or click on ‘Dog mode‘ from the climate section of the Tesla app.

The dog mode was introduced in February 2019, months after Musk replied with a cryptic ‘Yes’ to a Model 3 driver who requested a ‘dog mode’ on their vehicle.

“Where the music plays and the ac is on, with a display on screen saying "I'm fine my owner will be right back"?,” the user had asked.
