HTC CEO: We Still Support Android, Despite Google's Acquisition of Motorola Mobility

Share:

HTC CEO Peter Chou told The Wall Street Journal yesterday that his company continues to support Google and Android OS, despite Google's $12.5 billion acquisition of Motorola Mobility, announced earlier this week. "It's not the operating system, it's the ecosystem," Chou stated. "We think we can find a way to differentiate to add value, but at the same time leverage our partners, Google and Microsoft, since we have such a great relationship with them."

HTC has no plans to switch to another mobile platform or build its own mobile operating system as a result of this deal. Actually, HTC believes this acquisition is a good thing for Google because it allows the company to expand the number of patents it owns and in turn, help Android continue to grow.

HTC, based in Taiwan, is currently the largest smartphone manufacturer in the United States.
