A Toy Story – Trading Ideas To Play With
Mattel (NASDAQ: MAT) stock has hit a new 52-week high on Friday. It's currently trading at $27.81, above the previous high of $27.73. With Mattel holding the DC Comics toy rights, the recent Green Lantern movie and the company's recent range of toys won't have hurt them at all. Forthcoming Batman and Superman movies will be good for business too. Here are three other toy companies worth, ahem, playing around with.
Hasbro (NASDAQ: HAS) Still trading head and shoulders ahead of the competition, Hasbro stocks were at the $45.06 mark at the time of writing. Again, movies are having a say, with Hasbro's own Transformers brand hitting the big screen for the third time. In addition, Hasbro owns the Marvel Comics toy rights, so recent X-Men, Thor and this month's Captain America movies will be welcomed with open arms by the company. A new Spiderman film is expected next year too. Times are rosy for Hasbro.
JAKKS Pacific (NASDAQ: JAKK) Currently trading at a relatively respectable $18.83, JAKKS has slightly more niche appeal because it deals with toys with a retro vibe. Lines include the Smurfs, Pokemon, the Ultimate Fighting Championship and Pac-Man, none of which will be challenging the Green Lantern of the Transformers right now.
LeapFrog Enterprises (NYSE: LF) LeapFrog is currently trading at $4.30, but there will always be a market for early learning and development toys, as long as people keep having babies.
