Medico.com Wants to Be WebMD for the World
Medico.com launched today and aims to be to be WebMD for the whole world. The startup is the brainchild of Elan Dekel, a former product manager at Google (NASDAQ: GOOG).
Medico.com's goal is to address health issues across the globe in multiple languages. Medico currently is published in Spanish but will be launching in other languages soon.
"Health concerns are different from market to market," Dekel told the San Francisco Chronicle. "Diet and resources to get treated are different everywhere; U.S. food and health systems are useless to people in emerging markets."
Dekel secured funding last fall from First Round Capital, FirstMark Capital, Greylock Discovery Fund, Nexus Venture Partners and some prominent angels.
