Fast Money Halftime Report (GLD, USO)

Mark Fisher said on Fast Money's Halftime Report that he believes that people are mistakenly viewing gold as an alternative currency. He believes that the ultimate long term currency is energy and crude oil due to Chinese demand.

Joe Terranova said that he is still long gold, and that investors need to have gold in their portfolios, although in moderation. He also agreed with Fisher, saying that you have to have exposure to energy in the longer term.

During today's trading session, the United States Oil ETF (NYSE: USO) has lost 1.91% to $32.84. The SPDR Gold Trust ETF (NYSE: GLD) has lost 2.53% to $116.47.
