Afternoon Market Update (KEY, ZION, STI, FITB, STT, GNW, MNKD, GOOG, DELL, ORCL)
Shares of regional banks were the top gainers in the financial sector. The gainers in the list included KeyCorp (NYSE: KEY), Zions Bancorp (NASDAQ: ZION), SunTrust Banks Inc (NYSE: STI) and Fifth Third Bancorp (NASDAQ: FITB). The Standard & Poor's 500 stock index lost about 0.03%, while the Financial Select Sector SPDR exchange-traded fund (XLF) fell about 0.06%. The decliners in the list were State Street Corp (NYSE: STT) and Genworth Financial Inc (NYSE: GNW).
Shares of MannKind Corporation (NASDAQ: MNKD) gained about 6% after the company reported that US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) require additional 4 weeks for reviewing MNKD's inhaled insulin Afrezza.
Most of the tech stocks traded lower, along with the broad equity market. The top decliners included Google Inc (NASDAQ: GOOG), Dell Inc (NASDAQ: DELL) and Oracle Corp (NASDAQ: ORCL). The Nasdaq Composite Index lost about 0.22%.
