Apple Reportedly Unveils Vision Pro Backend Ahead Of Developer Kit Rollout

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has reportedly unveiled its Vision Pro backend, setting the stage for the upcoming developer kit release. 

What Happened: On Friday, Twitter user and developer Aaron took to the microblogging site and shared an update via Apple watcher Nicolas Alvarez about Apple rolling out the backend for the Vision Pro battery, allowing it to receive firmware updates and additional VisionOS assets. 

The latest update coincides with the upcoming distribution of Cupertino’s first-generation mixed-reality headset developer kits later this month.

Apple did not immediately respond to Benzinga’s request for comment.

Why It’s Important: Apple previously said that starting in July, the company would offer developers the chance to apply for Vision Pro development kits, which include a software ‘Simulator’ of Vision Pro, as part of their effort to prepare third-party apps for the headset’s launch in early 2024. 

Additionally, developers can also apply to attend Vision Pro developer labs, and the tech giant can review existing iPhone and iPad apps for compatibility with VisionOS.
