Texas Woman Charged With Threatening To Kill Federal Judge Overseeing Trump Election Case

A Texas woman named Abigail Jo Shry was charged with threatening to kill federal judge Tanya Chutkan who is overseeing former President Donald Trump’s prosecution, The New York Times reports.

Shry, from Alvin, Texas, threatened to kill Judge Tanya S. Chutkan, two days after Trump’s arraignment, in a voicemail message laced with racial slurs.

The threat stated that if Trump isn’t elected in 2024, “we are coming to kill you,” according to the criminal complaint. Shry also threatened Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, a Black Democratic congresswoman from Texas.

When federal agents visited Shry, she admitted to making the call but denied having plans to travel to Washington or Houston. She remains in custody after being denied bail.
