Elon Musk Wowed By Spotify's Latest Podcast Translation Feature, Developed With OpenAI's Help
Spotify Inc. (NYSE:SPOT) has unveiled a new voice translation feature for podcasts, earning praise from Elon Musk as the streaming giant explores AI-driven technology to bridge language gaps in the world of audio content.
What Happened: Spotify has initiated a trial phase for an AI-powered feature to translate and replicate podcast hosts’ voices into multiple languages.
The platform aims to provide a seamless listening experience in Spanish, French, and German by recreating the original speakers’ tone, rhythm, and pace.

Renowned Russian-American computer scientist and podcast host Lex Fridman expressed his excitement on X, formerly Twitter, about the capabilities of Spotify’s AI-driven translation and voice cloning.
In response, Musk, the visionary behind companies like Tesla and SpaceX, responded with a simple “Wow.”
The tool crafted by Spotify harnesses cutting-edge advancements, including Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)-backed OpenAI’s recently unveiled voice generation technology.
Why It’s Important: Early tests of this technology have been conducted on popular English-language podcasts, including “Armchair Expert,” “The Diary of a CEO,” and “The Rewatchables.”
Spotify intends to expand the feature to encompass more podcasts, even venturing into AI-dubbed content for multilingual hosts, such as Trevor Noah.
