Donaldson Co Inc (NYSE: DCI) reported better-than-expected quarterly results. Donaldson reported its quarterly earnings at $65.8 million, or $0.84 per share, up from $51.2 million, or $0.65 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue surged 21% to $625 million. Its engine product sales climbed to $398 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.79 per share, on revenue of $619.6 million. Donaldson projects 2012 earnings of $3.15 to $3.45 per share, on revenue of $2.45 to $2.60 billion. Analysts were expecting earnings of $3.21 per share, on revenue of $2.52 billion.

LDK Solar Co Ltd (NYSE: LDK) swung to a second-quarter net loss on Monday. LDK Solar posted a quarterly net loss at $87.7 million, or $0.62 per American Depository Shares (ADS), versus a net income of $45 million, or $0.36 per ADS, in the year-ago period. Its net sales dropped 12% to $499.4 million. However, analysts were expecting a loss of $0.25 per share on sales of $506.5 million. LDK Solar's gross margins dipped to 2.2%, from 18% in the year-earlier period. It shipped 429.2 MW of wafers in the period. LDK projects Q3 revenue of $630 to $680 million, and wafer shipments between 350-400 megawatts (MW).

Sands China Ltd (OTC: SCHYY) reported a strong rise in its first-half net profit. Sands China's net profit for the period surged to US$539.5 million, from US$250.5 million, in the year-ago period. Its net revenue climbed 19% to US$2.36 billion from US$1.98 billion.

China Petroleum & Chemical Corp (NYSE: SNP), or Sinopec, reported a 12% rise in its first-half net profit. Sinopec's net profit for the period rose to CNY41.17 billion (US$6.44 billion), from CNY36.80 billion, in the year-ago period, according to international accounting standards. However, analysts were expecting a net profit of CNY31.0 billion. Its first-half revenue climbed 32% to CNY1233.3 billion from CNY937.7 billion.

GOME Electrical Appliances Holding Ltd (OTC: GMELY) reported a 30% rise in its first-half net profit. GOME Electrical Appliances' net profit for the period climbed to CNY1.25 billion, from CNY962.3 million, in the year-ago period. Its revenue surged 19.8% to CNY29.81 billion from CNY24.87 billion.
