The markets were off to a shaky start, with the Dow opening lower, and the broader S&P fighting to stay in the green as traders grappled with a deluge of corporate and economic data.

As of 9:32 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 27 points, or 0.24%, to 11,372, the S&P 500 gained 0.95 point, or 0.08%, to 1,201, and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.7 points, or 0.07%, to 2,616.
