Twitter’s Revenue Model a Success

Share:

The online social media giant, Twitter, seems to be on the right track to profitability given their recent roll out of “promoted tweets.” Promoted tweets are basically company run twitter accounts that bump paid ads to the top of the news feed and leave them there for a period of time.

Currently, Virgin Media (NASDAQ: VMED), Bravo, which is owned by General Electric (NYSE: GE), and Red Bull Energy Drink are using the program and they all say that it has been an immediate success. Bravo for one said that their tweet about “Green IQ,” an online game, hit the maximum number of retweets and was seen by over 200,000 users. Red Bull recently remarked to BrandWeek that engagement rates for the promoted tweets program have been higher than traditional online advertising.
