Elon Musk Reacts To Colorado Supreme Court's Verdict To Debar Trump: 'History Will Judge This Poorly'

The Colorado state’s Supreme Court ruled Tuesday in favor of removing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump from the state ballot. The decision could have overreaching ramifications and has polarized analysts and the people.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is very vocal on X, the social-media platform he owns, weighed in on the development.

What Happened: Youtuber and political commentator Benny Johnson shared a video clip of a Fox News report about the disqualification in which the host said, “The Colorado lawsuit was filed by a Soros-funded outlet, decided by an all Democrat-appointed Supreme Court and the Democrat Colorado Secretary of State, within a split second, was celebrating on MSNBC.”

Commenting on the post, Musk said, “History will judge this poorly.”

When a Tesla influencer Whole Mars Catalog shared an MSNBC video announcing the Colorado SC’s verdict and captioned the post as, “The voters should decide, not the courts,” Musk expressed his agreement with it.

Why It’s Important: Trump’s campaign announced its resolution to challenge a verdict. The decision could be a setback for the former president’s election prospects despite him leading the GOP presidential primary race by a wide margin. He is also ahead of President Joe Biden in hypothetical two-way matchups in various polls.

The disqualification was based on the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, which debars anyone engaged in insurrection to run for office. It remains to be seen if this would be a precedent for the other states to tread the same path.

Fellow Republican presidential primary contestant and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy has said he would voluntarily ask for his name to be struck off the Colorado state ballot in protest and has also called other GOP candidates to follow suit.
