TM To Start Selling All-Electric Vehicle In 2012
Toyota Motor Corp (NYSE: TM) will start selling its all-electric vehicle in 2012. The Japanese automaker is pushing forward with alternative technologies and making moves towards its commitment to gas-electric hybrid engines.
TM is also planning to start selling hydrogen-fuel-cell vehicles in 2015. TM is moving forward with a proposal to expand the Prius hybrid into a family of vehicles. The company unveiled the second member of this family of cars at the Detroit Auto Show.
Toyota Motors Sales President Jim Lentz expects the sales of the Prius family of vehicles to exceed the sales of Camry, which is currently the top-seller in the US among the passenger cars category. TM plans to launch conventional hybrids in all its models by 2020.
TM's share price has risen by 0.38% to $86.09.
